I heard about this line to call: United Way’s statewide information and referral line, 2-1-1, is serving as a clearing house for those who would like to get or give help. 2-1-1 has just confirmed they will extend their service to be open this weekend, on Saturday 4/11 and Sunday 4/12 from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to serve those who have been affected by the tornadoes. 2-1-1 is a free phone number and those who call will be directed by a trained information and referral specialist to agencies that are assisting with the tornado relief effort. Individuals in need should be prepared to take the name, address, and phone number of agencies who can help with their specific need. Any agencies, organizations, or congregations offering help to tornado victims in Rutherford County, or around the state, should call 2-1-1 to be added to the database if they are not currently registered with 2-1-1. Those who wish to make a contribution to aid local tornado victims may do so online on the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties website at www.uwrutherford.org.
